Tava's hospital visit

Tava gave me a pretty good scare Friday night. I had put her down for the night like I usually do and at around 11:30p.m. Tava started screaming and was struggling to breath normal, so not knowing what was going on I tried to reach Mark who was at work on his cell phone, but he wasn't answering. So I decided to call my mom and she said I needed to take her to the hospital. I then called up my sister-in-law and brother- in-law that live close by to help me out. I finally talked to Mark and told him what was happening and he got a room at the hospital ready for us. Scott, Mark's brother took Tava and I to the hospital where we were checked in right away thanks to having a husband that works in the E.R. The doctor then listened to Tava's breathing and asked what had happened and he then told us she has Croup which is an inflammation of the larynx(voice box) caused by a viral infection during a cold. Tava was then given a breathing treatment along with a shot. She was such a good trooper and hardly cried the whole time we were at the hospital. After the breathing treatment we had to stay so they could monitor her progress. They have you wait an hour before they come back to check to see how her breathing is. I could still hear her wheezing a little and so could the doctor, so they gave her another breathing treatment. Finally around 4:00a.m. we left the hospital and Mark was able to get off work early to take us home.

Tava and I in the hospital bed. Can you tell by the way I look it wasn't a pleasant experience.

Tava sucking her thumb for comfort.

Tava is doing much better, she is still congested and coughing but her airway sounds ten times better. I am so thankful for modern day medicine and that I have family that lives close by.

You poor thing! How scary. I am glad everything is okay. Luke had croup last year and it was not fun. Nothing like spending the whole night in the ER. Bless your heart! Tava is so sweet. Hang in there.

Sounds a lot like my experience with Shaylee when she had RSV at 1 month old. It is so scary when they aren't breathing right! I am glad she is doing much better. Take care!

Michelle,
I am so sorry that had to happen! Anytime you have to take a baby to a hospital is such a scary thing-but way to get through it mom! Don't you love how all of us roomies can know what is going on with each others lives! I love how we all blog now!
